Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Your privacy matters. This page lists every single thing this site stores and every service it talks to, and tells you how to clear each one. It is written in plain language — no legal fog, and nothing hidden in a list three pages long.
What this site never collects
This is the short, honest version, and it is worth reading on its own:
- No analytics. No analytics script and no tracking script runs anywhere on this site. Nothing here measures which pages you read or how long you stay, because there is no analytics tool installed to do it.
- No advertising code. No ad network, no retargeting pixel, no data broker.
- No cookies. Nothing on this site sets a cookie. Your dark-or-light choice and your comment details are kept in your browser's own storage instead, which never travels to us — see the table below for the exact keys.
- No passwords, bank details or card numbers. No calculator here ever asks for one, and there is nowhere on this site to type one in.
- No selling or renting. Your data is never sold, rented or swapped to anyone.
- No selling you anything either. The calculators are free and there is nothing to buy here.
Every data flow on this site
Here is the complete list. If something on this site sends data anywhere, it is in this table — and if it is not in this table, it is not sent.
| What | Why | Who receives it | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The numbers you type into a calculator — salary, rent, income, savings, amounts | So the calculator can fill itself back in the next time you open it | Nobody. They are never sent anywhere, and no calculator has a button that would send them. | Your own browser's local storage, under a key like <code>gwill-sf-50-30-20</code> | Until you press <strong>Reset</strong> or <strong>Clear my saved numbers</strong>, or 30 days pass without you using that calculator — whichever comes first. |
| A comment: the name and email you type, and the comment text | To show your comment on the page and to moderate it | <code>comments-api.gwill.workers.dev</code>, a Cloudflare Worker run by this site's owner | Cloudflare's servers | Kept until deleted — there is no automatic expiry. A comment stays until you ask us to remove it or a moderator removes it, and deletion requests are answered within 30 days (see Your rights). Moderation links expire after 48 hours. |
| Your email address, when you sign up for the newsletter | To send the weekly digest you asked for | The same Cloudflare Worker, <code>comments-api.gwill.workers.dev</code> — comments and the newsletter go to one place | Cloudflare's servers | Kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete the address — there is no automatic expiry. Every newsletter email carries a one-click unsubscribe. |
| Your contact form message: your name, email, message, and the topic you picked | To reply to you | The same Cloudflare Worker, <code>comments-api.gwill.workers.dev</code> | Cloudflare's servers | Kept until deleted — same as comments: there is no automatic expiry, and it is removed when you ask. |
| Your Gravatar avatar | Gravatar builds a profile picture from an email address and shows it beside your comment | <code>secure.gravatar.com</code>, run by Automattic | Gravatar's own servers | Kept for as long as Gravatar keeps the address — that is Gravatar's decision, under Gravatar's own privacy policy, not this site's. |
| The fact that you opened a currency converter | Live exchange rates, fetched by your own browser rather than baked into the page | <code>open.er-api.com</code> (ExchangeRate-API) | Its own servers | Its own policy. <strong>The amount you typed is not part of this request</strong> — but your IP address is, because your browser's address has to reach whoever it calls. That is true of every website. |
| The fact that you loaded a page with the rate ticker on it | The Bitcoin, Ethereum and gold prices in the bar at the top of the page | Coinbase by default, with CoinGecko and Binance as fallbacks, plus <code>gold-api.com</code> | Their own servers | Their own policies. Same caveat: the request carries your IP address, and nothing you typed. |
| Whether you chose the light or the dark theme | To keep the theme you picked instead of guessing from your operating system | Nobody | Your browser's local storage, key <code>gwill-finance-theme-v3</code> | Until you change it, or clear your browser's storage for this site. |
| The name you typed into the comment form | So the form is already filled in the next time you comment | Nobody | Your browser's local storage, key <code>vibe_guest_name</code> | Until you clear your browser's storage for this site. <strong>Your email address is deliberately not saved here</strong> — it is held only until you close that browser tab. |
| A short cache of the rate ticker | To avoid re-fetching the same prices on every page you open | Nobody | Your browser's local storage, key <code>gwill-ticker-v1</code> | 60 seconds, then it is overwritten. |
Two things are worth saying plainly about that table. First, the rows that begin "Nobody" are not a trick: those values are written to your browser's storage by your own browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else — you can confirm it by opening your browser's developer tools and watching the network tab while you type. Second, the "How long" answers for everything the Worker holds are stated in the table itself: kept until deleted, no automatic expiry, and a deletion request answered within 30 days. Where a fact is genuinely not established in this repository, the cell says so plainly rather than inventing an answer — that convention stays.
Calculator numbers and shared computers
By default, calculators on this site do not remember you between visits: what you type is used for the session and then gone — nothing is written to storage, and nothing is restored after a reload. If you want a calculator to remember, it carries a "Remember my numbers on this device" switch, off until you turn it on. Turned on, what you type — a salary, a rent figure, an income, an amount you are saving — is written to your browser's own storage so you do not have to type it all again next time. Those numbers stay in your browser. They are not transmitted, not logged, and not visible to us. That is a property of how the calculators work, not a promise: no calculator has a send button, and the numbers never enter a network request. Turn the switch off again at any time — that stops the saving and the restoring immediately; what was already saved stays in the browser until you clear it (below) or until thirty days pass, after which a stored value is dropped rather than offered.
The catch is the one that matters on a shared computer, and it applies once you have turned remembering on. If you used a calculator on a laptop or desktop that someone else can use — a library machine, a shared office PC, a family computer — the next person to open that calculator will see your figures, because they are still sitting in that browser's storage. On a shared computer, leave the switch off, or clear before you walk away.
So every calculator carries its own controls for this:
- Remember my numbers on this device — the switch described above, off by default. Its position is stored separately from the numbers, so clearing the numbers never silently switches remembering on or off behind your back.
- Clear my saved numbers — on every calculator page, beside the Reset button. It removes every calculator number this site has saved in this browser, and puts the worked examples back.
- Reset — clears that one calculator and returns it to its example figures.
- Or clear it yourself: in Chrome or Edge, the padlock or the ⓘ icon beside the address, then Cookies and site data → Delete data. In Firefox, the padlock, then Clear cookies and site data → Cookies and site data. In Safari, Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data, then search for this site and remove it.
If you typed an email address into a comment form here, that address is deliberately not saved to disk — it goes away when you close the tab. The name you typed is saved, so the form is filled in next time, and the first item above removes it.
Who is responsible, and how to reach us
GWill Finance is published and run by G-will Chijioke, Nigeria. For anything about your personal data — a copy of it, a correction, or its deletion — use the contact form (it reaches our desk directly) or the email published on that page, hi@gwillchijioke.com. We answer access, correction and deletion requests within 30 days of receiving a request we can verify; if a request is unusually complex, we will say so inside that window and agree a realistic date with you rather than let it sit.
You do not need our permission to go further: under section 46(1) of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at any time. This site's data footprint is deliberately small — below the Commission's own "controller of major importance" line (more than 200 data subjects within six months) — so no Data Protection Officer is designated; if that ever changes, one is designated and named here. Last verified 12 October 2026.
Your rights
This site is for Nigerians, about Nigerian money. The regime that applies is the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. The GDPR and UK GDPR are not claimed here: this site is not directed at people in the European Union or the United Kingdom, so we are not offering GDPR rights handling we would not honour.
Under the Act you can ask us for a copy of the personal data this site holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. In practice the routes are:
- For a comment or a message you sent: the contact page. Tell us which one and we will deal with it.
- For your newsletter email: the unsubscribe link in any digest, or the contact page. Both stop the emails.
- For anything sitting in your own browser — calculator numbers, theme choice, saved comment name — you do not need to ask us at all. Clear my saved numbers on any calculator, or clear the site's data in your browser as described above, and it is gone immediately.
One thing this page still deliberately does not do is characterise a lawful basis for the processing in legal terms — the facts are all in the table above (what is collected, why, who receives it, and for how long), and that characterisation is a decision to be made and recorded properly before launch, not copy to be filled in on a quiet afternoon. The controller, the response deadline and the retention periods — which this page used to carry as honest "not published" cells — are settled in the section above and in the table.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new date at the top. Nothing in it is written to flatter the site: if a change makes this site collect more, the table above changes with it.
