Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Short version: errors get fixed and the fix gets dated. Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored, and no sponsor ever touches a rating. Affiliate links are disclosed on every article that carries them, and they never change a verdict.
Corrections policy
How to flag an error: use the contact page, or drop it in the comments on the article itself. Say which page and which claim — a screenshot or a link to the source you have in mind helps, but it is not required. Every flag is read.
What happens next: the claim is checked against its source — the statute, the provider's own fee schedule, the data feed, or the maths. If it is wrong, the text is corrected and the fix is dated: a short note is added at the corrected passage (or at the top of the article for a substantial fix), and the article's Reviewed date moves to the correction date, which also flows into the page's dateModified. If the claim turns out to be right, the reply says so and shows the source. Either way you get an answer, not a shrug.
Numbers get the same treatment with one extra step: a corrected calculator figure is re-proved against the site's oracle sets before the correction ships, and a change that is a deliberate divergence from the original engine is declared in the public repo — see the methodology page.
Corrections log
- October 2026 — how reviews were described. Earlier review copy on this site described app testing as multi-month, real-money trials ("tested with real money over four months", "six months of real usage"). The posts carried comparisons — fee tables, published limits, hands-on use — but not measured trials, so the wording was rewritten site-wide to describe the comparisons actually made. No ratings or figures changed; the description of how the posts were produced was the error, and it is corrected.
This log is newest-first and grows whenever a correction lands. Nothing is quietly edited away.
Sponsorship policy
The honest status first: no sponsored post has been published on this site yet. The policy below is the commitment it will be held to when one runs.
- Labels, always. A sponsored post carries a visible "Sponsored" label at the top of the article, in the same spot the affiliate disclosure uses — not buried in the footer, not a hashtag.
- Sponsored posts get no editorial verdict. Star ratings and "which one I recommend" verdicts appear only in independent, unsponsored reviews. A sponsor buying placement is buying reach, not the rating.
- Only honest recommendations. Pitches are accepted for products the site can honestly recommend after testing — the same bar as the About promise. A product the author wouldn't use is declined, sponsor or not.
- Declined outright: paid "positive review" deals — the arrangement where the verdict is the deliverable. That line also sits in the Contact sidebar, where partnership offers are invited.
How affiliates stay separate
Affiliate links and sponsorship are different things and are kept visibly separate. Some articles carry affiliate links — they earn the site a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you — and every such article discloses that at the top, in the same place, every time. The full mechanics are on the affiliate disclosure page. Affiliate relationships never change a rating, a verdict, or whether a product gets covered at all — that promise is enforced the only way it can be: in public, in the same paragraph, every time.
